Overview

This article provides answers to commonly asked questions about book formatting for self-publishing. Find solutions for book sizing, formatting requirements, printing options, and cost calculations.

What size should my book be?

Book size is entirely your choice. However, selecting the right dimensions impacts both page count and reader experience.

Common Book Sizes

  • 5 x 8 inches

  • 5.5 x 8.5 inches

  • 6 x 9 inches

Size Selection Guidelines

Important: Larger dimensions result in a smaller page count.

Your dimensions should reflect your book's theme and target audience:

  • Children's workbooks: Better suited for larger dimensions

  • General non-fiction books (business, money, etc.): Better suited for standard dimensions

How do I format my book?
