Where to Find Free Stock Images
Recommended Free Stock Photo Websites
You can find free stock images from these trusted sources:
Pexels (pexels.com)
Pixabay (pixabay.com)
Unsplash (unsplash.com)
How to Download Free Stock Images
Go to any of the recommended websites in your browser
Type your search term in the search bar (example: "flowers")
Browse the page of image results that appears
Click on your preferred image(s)
Click "Free Download" for each photo you want to use
Images will automatically save to your Downloads folder
Using Personal Photos
If you want to use personal photos from your gallery:
Save them as JPG format for best resolution and KDP upload compatibility
Store them in your Downloads folder with your other images
How to Add Photos to Your Google Doc Manuscript
Step-by-Step Instructions
Position your cursor at the exact point in your manuscript where you want to add the photo
Click "Insert" at the top of your Google Doc page
Hover your mouse over "Image" in the dropdown menu
Click "Upload from computer"
Select the photo you want from your Downloads folder
Click "Open"
Your image will now display within your manuscript
Adding Multiple Photos
Repeat the above process for each photo you want to add
Position each photo carefully before inserting
Photo Resizing Information
Important Limitation
Photo resizing is NOT available in Reedsy. There is no workaround for this limitation.
Best Practice for Resizing
To avoid time and frustration:
Resize all photos in your Google Doc BEFORE importing to Reedsy
Complete all photo sizing adjustments before moving to the next step
This prevents issues when importing to KDP later
