Overview

This guide helps you resolve ZIP file and HTML errors when uploading your 7-Day Publishing Challenge (7DPC) manuscript to Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP).

When Reedsy sends you your completed manuscript, it arrives as a compressed ZIP file that must be extracted before uploading to KDP.

Common Error Messages

You may encounter these error messages when trying to upload your manuscript directly:

  • ZIP file format not supported

  • HTML file cannot be processed

  • Invalid file format errors

Solution: Extract Your ZIP Files

Step 1: Locate Your Downloaded Files

  1. Navigate to your Downloads folder

  2. Look for the ZIP file sent by Reedsy containing your 7DPC manuscript

  3. The file will have a .zip extension

Step 2: Extract the ZIP File

  1. Double-click on the zipped folder file in your Downloads folder

  2. Look for the "Extract all" tab in the window that opens

  3. Click on "Extract all"

  4. Click on "Extract" to confirm

Result: Your files are now unzipped and available in a new folder within your Downloads directory.

Step 3: Identify the Extracted Files

After extraction, you should see:

  • ePub file (for eBook upload)

  • PDF Print Ready file (for paperback upload)

  • Additional supporting files
